Dear Brother’s and Sister’s,

I would like to share with you one of the great character traits that the Prophet(SAW) had: Patience.

Right now we live in a time where the concept of Islamaphobia and the wrong idea of Islam is spreading like wildfire. It is up to us as Muslims to really start implementing the characteristics and moral principles instructed to us by Allah(SWT) and the Prophet(SAW). Our actions will speak louder than words, and what better actions are the ones none other than the Prophet(SAW).

The patience of the Prophet(SAW) was exemplified constantly throughout his life and actions. The patience that the Prophet(SAW) had is incomparable to any ordinary human being. As you will see through the narrations.

Here are some hadiths talking about the patience of the Prophet(SAW):

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “No one can be given a blessing better and greater than patience.” – Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 2, Hadith 548

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “There is no gift better and more vast (that you may be given) than patience.” – Sahih Al-Bukhari, Hadith 8:477

Insha’Allah we all can incorporate this small thing in our lives and really show the world what Islam truly is. Insha’Allah we ask Allah(SWT) for peace, forgiveness, guidance, protection, and Junnah-al-Firdaus.

Dear Brother’s and Sister’s,

I would like to share with you a hadith about Salat-al-Istikhara. This prayer is an extremely important volunteer prayer and it was a sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad(SAW) to do this when he needed Allah(SWT) to guide him towards an action. As an example, my friend used to do Istikhara when he was choosing between classes for college. He told me that whenever he did Istikhara for certain classes the end result was always blessed because he would find out later about the other class option and find that his class was much more suited for him. SubhanAllah.

Here is a hadith about how to go about his prayer:

Narrated Jabir bin ‘Abdullah : The Prophet (p.b.u.h) used to teach us the way of doing Istikhara (Istikharameans to ask Allah to guide one to the right sort of action concerning any job or a deed), in all matters as he taught us the Suras of the Quran. He said, “If anyone of you thinks of doing any job he should offer a two Rakat prayer other than the compulsory ones and say (after the prayer): — ‘Allahumma inni astakhiruka bi’ilmika, Wa astaqdiruka bi-qudratika, Wa as’alaka min fadlika al-‘azlm Fa-innaka taqdiru Wala aqdiru, Wa ta’lamu Wala a’lamu, Wa anta ‘allamu l-ghuyub. Allahumma, in kunta ta’lam anna hadha-l-amra Khairun li fi dini wa ma’ashi wa’aqibati amri (or ‘ajili amri wa’ajilihi) Faqdirhu wa yas-sirhu li thumma barik li Fihi, Wa in kunta ta’lamu anna hadha-lamra shar-run li fi dini wa ma’ashi wa’aqibati amri (or fi’ajili amri wa ajilihi) Fasrifhu anni was-rifni anhu. Waqdir li al-khaira haithu kana Thumma ardini bihi.’ (O Allah! I ask guidance from Your knowledge, And Power from Your Might and I ask for Your great blessings. You are capable and I am not. You know and I do not and You know the unseen. O Allah! If You know that this job is good for my religion and my subsistence and in my Hereafter–(or said: If it is better for my present and later needs)–Then You ordain it for me and make it easy for me to get, And then bless me in it, and if You know that this job is harmful to me In my religion and subsistence and in the Hereafter–(or said: If it is worse for my present and later needs)–Then keep it away from me and let me be away from it. And ordain for me whatever is good for me, And make me satisfied with it). The Prophet added that then the person should name (mention) his need.  (Sahih Bukhari).

We have to realize that there may be options in life that we may want but Allah(SWT) knows that the other option is better for us. So it is better to take council with Allah(SWT) then just take a random choice and mess up something.

As Allah(SWT) says, ” . . .But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not.”( Surah Baqrah 2:216).

Also what should be mentioned is that the Fuqaha(Jurist) say that if the result is not clear it is recommended to do this up to 7 times. Do not just thing you do this once and it is like a magic 8 ball that tells you what to do. The point of this is to get inclination towards an option.

So insh’Allah we all take this knowledge and actually use it to our advantage. Insha’Allah Allah(SWT) will forgive us, guide us, protect us, and give us all Jannah-al-Firdaus.

Dear Brother’s and Sister’s,

I would like to explain to people, especially older generation of people who grew up in a society or culture in which having a son is the best thing in the world and having a daughter is not so great, that we should really love and cherish your daughters because this is one of the biggest Mercy’s of Allah(SWT) for you.

I personally know adults who complain about having a daughter and wishing they had a son. I also personally know girls who’s parents have told them once in their lives that they wished for a son more than a daughter. Honestly, that is mean and disgusting. Allah(SWT) put both man and woman as equal beings who need to care for one another. As a Muslim parent one should not fall back into the cultural and patriarchal ideology that a son will bring you money and provide and etc. We have to realize that the Prophet(SAW) told us to be happy and rejoice for your daughters as it is a mercy of Allah(SWT) for us.

Here are some hadiths about blessings and mercies of having a daughter:

Narrated ‘Aisha(the wife of the Prophet) A lady along with her two daughters came to me asking me (for some alms), but she found nothing with me except one date which I gave to her and she divided it between her two daughters, and then she got up and went away. Then the Prophet came in and I informed him about this story. He said, “Whoever is in charge of (put to test by) these daughters and treats them generously, then they will act as a shield for him from the (Hell) Fire.” (Sahih Bukahri)

Hazrat Anas (radiyallahu anhu) reports Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said, “The person who successfully brings up two daughters until they reach maturity, then on the day of Qiyamah (Judgement) Myself and that person will be like this (Rasulullah) indicated closeness by bringing together his index and middle fingers) (Sahih Muslim)

[ There are narrations where Prophet(SAW) even said one daughter].

Even with the Prophet(SAW) own daughter the love and compassion for them was immense. Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam)  used to say, “Fathima is a portion of my flesh, whosoever hurts her, certainly hurts me”(Sahih Bukhari)

Basically I want to say is that love, cherish, and understand your daughters because it helps you become more humble, patient, a better person, and it is a ticket to Junnah.

Insha’Allah I ask Allah(SWT) to forgive us, guide us, protect us, and enter us all in Junnah-al-Firdaus.

Dear Brother’s and Sister’s,

Due to our indoctrinated lifestyle of constant work and sleep with barely or no cathartic release it is extremely difficult to truly search and understand our spiritual side.  As a fellow human being I am as well guilty of not trying hard enough, as I would like to, to really find the truth in myself and the Divine.  However, Allah(SWT) ordains us to remember him. The beauty of this is that the mercy and love of Allah(SWT) is unfathomable to the so-called “comprehensive” and “extensive” mind of ordinary human beings.

In the Quran Allah(SWT) states, “O you who have believed, remember Allah with much remembrance. And exalt Him morning and afternoon. It is He who confers blessing upon you, and His angels [ask Him to do so] that He may bring you out from darknesses into the light. And ever is He, to the believers, Merciful. Their greeting the Day they meet Him will be, “Peace.” And He has prepared for them a noble reward.” ( Surah Al-Azhab, 33: 41-44).

Even the Prophet(SAW) has explained to us how much love and mercy Allah(SWT) has for us if we just think about him.

The hadith states: ““Allah says: ‘I am just as My slave thinks I am, (i.e. I am able to do for him what he thinks I can do for him) and I am with him if He remembers Me. If he remembers Me in himself, I too, remember him in Myself; and if he remembers Me in a group of people, I remember him in a group that is better than they; and if he comes one span nearer to Me, I go one cubit nearer to him; and if he comes one cubit nearer to Me, I go a distance of two outstretched arms nearer to him; and if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running.”[Sahih Bukhari]

Insha’Allah we will try everyday to keep Allah(SWT) in our hearts and thoughts so that we will be in the thoughts of Allah(SWT) to a degree unimaginable because we truly need guidance, protection, and forgiveness. Insha’Allah we will all reach Junnah-al-Firdaus.

Benefits of Surah Hashr

Dear Brother’s and Sister’s,

I want to write about the benefits of reciting and knowing Surah Hashr.

First of all just reciting and reading Quran has so much benefit in it.

The Prophet(sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said “Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah will receive a hasanah(good deed) from it, and the hasanah is multiplied by ten. I do not say that Alif-Laam-Meem is a letter , rather Alif is a letter, Laam is a letter, and Meem is a letter.” (At-Tirmidhi).

So with this being mentioned everyone should try to incorporate Quran in their lives and learn from it. Just try it at least once and slowly build upon it. The religion of Islam is powerful so don’t overdo it and burn yourself out, rather take a gradual process to do this.

So here is a hadith on the benefits of Surah Hashr:

The Prophet(SAW) said, ‘Whoever when he wakes in the morning says ‘I seek refuge with Allah against the accursed satan’ and then recited three verses from the last part of Surah al Hashr, will be assigned seventy thousand angels to pray for him until the evening, and should he die that day, he would have died a martyr’ [Ibn Ahmad, Darimi, Tirmidhi 5/182]

As you can see that there are many benefits to reciting and knowing this Surah. So to protect ourselves and to prepare ourselves let us try to learn more about Islam and pick up the Quran more often. Below is a link for you to purchase your own Quran and please check out our shopping page.

The Holy Qur’an: English Translation, Commentary and Notes with Full Arabic Text (English and Arabic Edition)

Dear Brother’s and Sister’s,

I would like to share with you one of the great character traits that the Prophet(SAW) had: Gentleness.

The gentleness of the Prophet(SAW) just radiated from him. He was always cheerful and gentle and never wanted to cause harm.

The Prophet(SAW) smiled so often and even described it as a charity, and psychologists now a days even tell us that a smile has so many powerful an positive psychological effects. (Look it up yourself. It is truly amazing)

Here are some hadiths talking about the gentleness of the Prophet(SAW):

Abdullaah Ibn Haarith said, ‘I never came across a person who smiled as much as the Prophet(SAW). The Prophet(SAW)  regarded smiling with a brother as an act of charity. (Tirmidhi)

Aisha stated that, ‘The Prophet(SAW) never used foul language and never entertained people with obscene jokes. He was well behaved when he entered the market places. His habit was not to repel evil with mutual evil. He was forgiving and could grant pardon.'(Tirmidhi)

Husain  the grandson of the Prophet(SAW) asked his father, Ali , about the Prophet’s conduct. Ali replied, ‘He was always cheerful, gentle and mild. There was no rigidity or coarseness in his conduct. He was neither a faultfinder nor a boisterous person and he steered away from any kind of futile engagement.’ (Tabarani)

Prophet Muhammad(SAW) smiled so spontaneously that each one of the Companions, as they gathered around him during their visits to his house, thought to be the favorite Companion. Jareer Ibn Abdullah said, ‘I have not seen the Prophet, since I embraced Islam, without a smile on his face. I saw him smiling when he could not see me and he was smiling in my presence.’ (Bukahri)

I would like to share with you a very splendid and beautiful hadith about the mercy of Allah(SWT) and how he is the most forgiving. Insh’Allah we will keep turning back to Allah(SWT) for repentance because anything and everything can be forgiven.  Everybody has their pasts, but thats it, its the past not the present or future. We all need to strive to make forward progression in our lives and not let the past get to us. So do not ever lose hope in Allah(SWT) mercy and forgiveness.

The hadith is:

Allah’s Messenger (saw) said: “Allah the Most High says: ‘O son of Adam! As long as you supplicate to Me and hope in Me, I will forgive you what you have done. O son of Adam! If your sins were to reach the lofty regions of the sky, then you ask Me for forgiveness, I would forgive you. O son of Adam! If you were to come to Me with enough sins to fill the earth, but you met Me not associating anything with Me I would bring you the like of it of forgiveness.” [Bukhari, 8/319]

Allah(SWT) mercy and forgiveness is unfathomable because this type of mercy does not exist anywhere. If a person transgresses and keeps on transgressing until all the transgressions can be counted up reaching towards the sky and the final result is forgiveness as long as we turned back to Allah(SWT) then why should we let one prayer slip away.

Insha’Allah we all turn back to Allah(SWT) and seek guidance, protection, mercy, and forgiveness through Allah(SWT) because it is He who can change up our fortune of our lives in this life and the next.

Dear Brother’s and Sister’s,

I would like to share with you a wonderful hadith that tells us how we can recite the entire Quran in less than 3 minutes. Some of you may say that is impossible, but it is not because our beloved Prophet(SAW) has narrated to us a method.

‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radhiallahu anho) narrates that the Prophet Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: The Surah Al-Zilzal is equal to the half of the Holy Qur’an, the Surah Al-Ikhlas is equal to the one third of the Holy Qur’an and the Surah Al-Kafiroon is equal to the one fourth of the Holy Qur’an. (Tirmidhi: 2894)

Now if we do the math: 1/2 + 1/3 + 1/4 = 1.0833333

Technically it is a little more than the entire Quran.

These three surahs are very short and can be easily recited in 3 minutes or less.

Also do not forget that there is extra blessings and reward in just reciting a letter of the Quran:

The Prophet(sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said “Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah will receive a hasanah(good deed) from it, and the hasanah is multiplied by ten. I do not say that Alif-Laam-Meem is a letter , rather Alif is a letter, Laam is a letter, and Meem is a letter.” (At-Tirmidhi).

So lets strive to read the entire Quran everyday and Insha’Allah we turn back to Allah(SWT) and ask for forgiveness, guidance, protection, and Junnh-al-Firdaus.

Benefits of Surah Yasin

Dear Brother’s and Sister’s,

I want to write about the benefits of reciting and knowing Surah Yasin.

So here are some hadiths on the benefits of Surah Yasin:

Anas (RA) reported Allah’s Messenger (saw) saying, “Everything has a heart and the heart of the Holy Qur’an is Yasin. Allah I will record anyone who recites Yasin as having recited the Holy Qur’an ten times.” (Tirmidhi, Darimi)

The Prophet (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, ‘Whoever recites Yasin once Allah will record the reward of reciting the Qur’an ten times.’[Maqal, Tirmidhi 2812/A & Dhahabi]

Maqal ibn Yasaar Muzani (RA) reported the Holy Prophet (saw) saying, “If anyone recites Yasin for Allah’s  pleasure, his past sins will be forgiven; so recite it on those who are dying.”( Baihaqi)

Aisha (RA) reports Rasulullah (saw) saying, “Indeed in the Noble Qur’an there is a surah which, for its reader will intercede and which will be a means of forgiveness for its listener. Listen carefully, it is Surah Yasin, in the Torah it is called Muimmah.”
It was enquired, “O’ Messenger of Allah r, what is Muimmah?” Rasulullah replied, “It contains for its reader the benefits of this world, it removes from him the dread of the next life, and it is called Dafiah and Qadhiyah.”
Again it was enquired, “How is this Surah Dafiah and Qadhiyah?” Rasulullah replied, “It takes away from its reader all afflictions and fulfills his need. Whoever recites it, it will be made equal to twenty pilgrimages. Whoever shall listen to it, it will be as thousand dinars, which he has given as charity in the path of Allah I. And whoever shall write it and then drink it, it will enter into his heart a thousand cures, a thousand radiant lights, a thousand times more increase in belief, a thousand mercies, a thousand blessings, a thousand times more increase in guidance, and will remove from him all diseases.” (Tha’labi, Tirmidhi in Nawadirul Usul)

Ummud Darda (RA) reports the Noble Prophet (saw) saying, “Over no person who is about to die and Surah Yasin is read upon them but Allah I lightens the difficulties of death for him.”( Qurtubi)

As you can see that there are many benefits to reciting and knowing this Surah. So to protect ourselves and to prepare ourselves let us try to learn more about Islam and pick up the Quran more often. Below is a link for you to purchase your own Quran and please check out our shopping page.

Benefits of Surah Al-Fatihah

Dear Brother’s and Sister’s,

I want to write about the benefits of reciting and knowing Surah Al-Fatihah.

So here are some hadiths on the benefits of Surah Al-Fatihah:

Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) reported that when Allah’s Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) asked Ubayy ibn Ka’ab (radiAllahu anhu), “Do you want me to teach you a Surah the like of which has not been revealed in the Torah, the Injeel, the Zabur, nor the Qur’an?”, and also asked what he recited in his prayers. He replied Umm-ul Qur’an (Surah Fatihah) the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) proclaimed, ‘By Him in whose dominion my soul is, nothing like it has been revealed in the Torah, the Gospel, the Psalms, or the Qur’an and it is seven of the oft-repeated verses in the Mighty Qur’an which I have been given’ [at-Tirmidhi, Al-Hakim says that this hadith is Sahih on the conditions established by Imam Muslim (Tafseer Mazhari 1:30)]

Abu Saeed al-Khudr’i narrates that while on a journey we halted at a place. A girl came to us and said: “The chief of this tribe has been stung by a scorpion and our men are not present, is there anybody amongst you who can recite something upon him to treat him?” Then, one of our men went along with her although we did not think that he knew any such treatment. However, our friend went to the chief and recited something upon him and the chief was cured. Thereupon, the chief gave him thirty sheep and gave us all milk to drink. When he returned, we asked our friend: “Did you know anything to recite upon him to cure him?” He said: “No, I only recited Umm al-Kitab (i.e. Surah al-Fatihah) upon him.” We said that do not do anything until we reach Madinah and ask the Prophet regarding this (practice and reward-whether the sheep were lawful or not for us). Upon reaching Madinah, we narrated this to the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam), whereupon he remarked: “How did he come to know that Al-Fatihah can be used as a cure? (Rasulullah said this in astonishment) Distribute your reward amongst yourselves and allot a share for me as well. [Sahih al-Bukhari]

Abu Sulaiman says that once a group of Companions were in an expedition (ghazwa) when they happened to come across an epileptic person, who was unconscious. One of the Companions recited Surah Al-Fatiha and blew in his ear. The epileptic person immediately cured. When Sayyidana Muhammad (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) was informed of this, he said: “It (Surah Al-Fatiha) is “The Mother of the Qur’an” (Umm al-Qur’an) and is a cure for every disease.” [This narration has been recorded by Ath-Thua’lbi from Abu Sulaiman, who narrated it from Muawiya bin Saleh (radhi Allah anhu), Tafseer Mazhari 1:31]

Anas (radhi Allah anhu) said: “When you recite Surah Al-Fatihah and Surah Al-Ikhlas upon lying on your bed, you will be safeguarded and should become fearless of every thing except death.”[Narrated by Baraa’, Tafseer Mazhari 1:31]

A man came to the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam), embraced Islam then returned to his people. On his way there were a group of men who had with them a mad man in iron manacles. The group said, that they heard that the travelers friend (i.e. Prophet Muhammad) had something good with him and so he exorcised the mad man with Surah al Fatiha, and he was cured. As reward they gave the traveler 100 sheep. He then returned to the Prophet and narrated the story. The Prophet asked if he did anything other than recite al-Fatiha, he said no. So the Prophet said that while these people make their livelihoods out of false incantations (i.e. worshipping false idols) the traveler earned the 100 sheep through something lawful; so he could keep the sheep.
[Abu Dawud 3398/a]

As you can see that there are many benefits to reciting and knowing this Surah. So to protect ourselves and to prepare ourselves let us try to learn more about Islam and pick up the Quran more often. Below is a link for you to purchase your own Quran and please check out our shopping page.
